Surah Al-Ahzab — Ayah 67 (33:67)

English translation (Saheeh International)

And they will say, "Our Lord, indeed we obeyed our masters and our dignitaries,¹ and they led us astray from the [right] way.

1. - Also interpreted to mean "our noble ones and our elders [i.e., distinguished scholars]."

Brief commentary

These people will come up with a false, weak excuse when they will say: “O our Lord! Indeed, we obeyed our leaders and the elders of our tribes and they led us astray from the straight path.”
