Surah Al-An'am — Ayah 8 (6:8)

The Cattle · Makkah · Juz 7 · Mushaf page 128 of 604

English translation (Saheeh International)

And they say, "Why was there not sent down to him an angel?"1 But if We had sent down an angel, the matter would have been decided;2 then they would not be reprieved.

  1. In support of his prophethood (ﷺ).
  2. They would have been destroyed immediately with no chance for repentance.

Brief commentary

These disbelievers said, ‘We will believe if Allah sends down an angel with Muhammad (peace be upon him) who speaks to us and bears witness that he is a messenger’. If we send down an angel of the kind they wish, we will destroy them if they do not believe; and they will not be given time to repent.
