Surah Al-Anbya — Ayah 18 (21:18)
English translation (Saheeh International)
Rather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it,1 and thereupon it departs. And for you is destruction from that which you describe.2
- Literally, "strikes its brain," disabling or killing it.
- Of untruth concerning Allāh, particularly here, the claim that He has a son or other "partner" in divinity.
Brief commentary
But rather, I throw the truth I reveal to My messengers upon the falsehood of the disbelievers, and it destroys it, and then their falsehood goes and finishes. And for you, O you who say Allah has taken a wife or son, is destruction, due to your describing Him with what is inappropriate for Him.
