Surah Al-Baqarah — Ayah 43 (2:43)

English translation (Saheeh International)

And establish prayer and give zakāh¹ and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].

1. - An annual expenditure for the benefit of the Islāmic community (see 9:60) required of those Muslims who have excess wealth. Prayer and zakāh are among the pillars of Islām.

Brief commentary

Establish the prayers properly with its obligatory and recommended parts; give Zakat from your wealth, which Allah has put in your hands; and be humble to Allah with those who are humble of Muhammad’s nation (peace be upon him).
