Surah Al-Fil — Ayah 1 (105:1)

English translation (Saheeh International)

Have you not considered, [O Muḥammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?¹

1. - i.e., the army under the command of Abrahah al-Ashram which was accompanied by a huge elephant and came with the intention of destroying the Kaʿbah at Makkah.

Brief commentary

O Messenger! Do you not know how your Lord dealt with Abraha and his people: the people of the elephant, when they intended to demolish the Ka‘bah?
