Surah Al-Mulk — Ayah 16 (67:16)

English translation (Saheeh International)

Do you feel secure that He who is above¹ would not cause the earth to swallow you and suddenly it would sway?²

1. Literally, "in ascendancy" or "over the heaven."
2. In a circular motion, as in an earthquake.

Brief commentary

Do you feel safe from the being in the heavens that He may cause the earth to split beneath you, just as He caused it to split beneath Korah, despite it having been soft and easy to live on? It could suddenly shake with you on it, after being firm and solid.
