Surah Maryam — Ayah 35 (19:35)

Mary · Makkah · Juz 16 · Mushaf page 307 of 604

English translation (Saheeh International)

It is not [befitting] for Allāh to take a son; exalted is He!1 When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.

  1. - i.e., far removed is He from any such need.

Brief commentary

It does not befit Allah to have a son, exalted and free He is from this. When He intends something, it is enough for Him to say regarding this thing: Be, and it most definitely becomes. So He who is like this is free from having a son.
