Surah Nuh — Ayah 23 (71:23)
وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدّٗا وَلَا سُوَاعٗا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسۡرٗا ٢٣
English translation (Saheeh International)
And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwāʿ or Yaghūth and Yaʿūq and Nasr.'1
- - These were the names of specific idols named after pious men of earlier generations.
Brief commentary
<p>They said to their followers, “Do not leave the worship of your deities: do not leave the worship of your idols Wadd, Suwā‘, Yaghūth, Ya'ūq and Nasr.”</p>
