Surah Ya-Sin — Ayah 75 (36:75)
لَا يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ نَصۡرَهُمۡ وَهُمۡ لَهُمۡ جُندٞ مُّحۡضَرُونَ ٧٥
English translation (Saheeh International)
They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in attendance.1
- - Maintaining and protecting their "gods." Another interpretation is that they (i.e., the gods) will be soldiers set against them in Hellfire.
Brief commentary
Those deities that they have taken are not able to help themselves, let alone help whoever worships them instead of Allah. The worshippers, together with their idols, will all be brought to the punishment but will all protest innocence from one another.
