Surah Yusuf — Ayah 39 (12:39)
English translation (Saheeh International)
O [my] two companions of prison, are separate lords better or Allāh, the One,1 the Prevailing?2
- Single, individual and unique in His attributes and His deeds.
- He who subdues doubts and false arguments with clear evidences and who subdues and imposes His will upon all creation.
Brief commentary
Joseph then addressed the two men in the prison, asking whether worshipping many gods was better or worshipping Allah, the One, Who has no partner, the Prevailing over all else, Who none can prevail over.
