Surah As-Saffat — Ayah 149 (37:149)

English translation (Saheeh International)

So inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?¹

1. - The people of Makkah claimed that the angels were daughters of Allāh, yet they preferred sons for themselves.

Brief commentary

O Muhammad! So ask these idolaters, idolaters a rebuking question: “Do you attribute for Allah daughters which you yourselves dislike, while attributing sons for yourselves whom you love? What kind of distribution is this?”
