Surah As-Saffat — Ayah 164 (37:164)

وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ ١٦٤

English translation (Saheeh International)

[The angels say],1 "There is not among us any except that he has a known position.2

  1. Refuting what the disbelievers had said about them.
  2. For worship. Or "an assigned task" to perform.

Brief commentary

And the angels said, stating their servitude to Allah and their being free of what the idolaters claimed: “There is nobody amongst us except that he has a known position in Allah’s worship and obedience.
