Surah Ash-Shu'ara — Ayah 223 (26:223)
يُلۡقُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كَٰذِبُونَ ٢٢٣
English translation (Saheeh International)
They pass on what is heard,1 and most of them are liars.
- - This was before they were prevented, as described in 72:8-9.
Brief commentary
“The satans eavesdrop on the exalted assembly of angels and then convey that information to their fortune-teller friends. The majority of fortune tellers are liars; if they are truthful in one statement, they tell a hundred lies with it.
